One Minute How To: Data Security Tips for Marketers and Consumers

February 26, 2008 by

I recently had the pleasure to once again speak with George from the One Minute How To podcast. We discussed tips for both marketers and consumers to keep in mind to help protect sensitive information.

Please check out the podcast episode. It’s only a minute. 🙂

I am dealing with a global up market organisation based in the USA who are currently asking me to make a payment for something by using my credit card. That’s fine except they want me to put the details on a word document which gives the recipient authority to debit the account.

That word document passes through many “hands” before it even gets to their inbox and who knows who handles it then. I asked them, “Don’t you have an online method of payment or an alternative?” “No” is their curt response.

I’m like … “No” is my response as in “No more business from me.” 🙂

That’s unfortunate the business treated you like that and you are wise to scrutinize whether they can ensure the safety of your information.

You should never be bullied into doing something that you are not comfortable with. Thanks for sharing that Pete.
